Our Story

How it began ...

Kissed by a Hammer is located in "the Jewel of the Wilderness" Elliot Lake, Ontario, Canada... Nestled amongst pristine lakes atop the Canadian Shield, Elliot Lake started off as a mining town and over time has become a wilderness recreation destination and retirement community. It is a special place where it is easy to stay in a reflective and creative mood. There is a strong relationship with nature here; one of gratitude for the wilderness, wonder at the stars and quiet moments that inspire our creative spirit.

Barbara

Kissed by a Hammer, began life in December 2015 as the next incarnation of 'Barb's Original Designs', started in 2012. A home based project for exploring new expressions with stained glass jewelry. Barbara's designs came to life as she experimented with new ways to look at the interplay between the glass itself and the processes developed over centuries in this craft. Barbara has created a very unique line of custom made pendants and bracelets. Beautiful in form each piece comes to life with a mix of colour, texture and brilliance, unique to the type of glass it is made of.

Keith

Keith studied Visual & Design Arts and worked in the creative departments of advertising and computer graphic firms before a long hiatus in automotive manufacturing. Always involved with an artistic or musical project over those years, he had scores of freelance projects to hone his skill sets. Now being a full time part of Kissed by a Hammer he draws from an eclectic mix of experiences and interests fused with a perceptive, artistic insight to 'create jewelry/chase his muse' with the hammer, anvil, torch and file.
